Information about the Financial Aid Executive Summary Page

Applicant Type Statistics:

This table categorizes financial aid applicants based on whether they have applied for admission, been admitted, or registered for classes. The purpose is to show us how well we are encouraging financial aid applicants to attend 17勛圖.

Total Number of Financial Aid Applications Received:
The unduplicated number of applicants we received financial aid application(s) from as of the date in the column heading. These applicants are then categorized below as New Applicants or Prior Students.

  New Applicants:
Financial aid applicants who have not registered for academic classes at 17勛圖 prior to this year.

Aid Applicants who have not Applied for Admission:
If the new financial aid applicant has not submitted an academic admission application to 17勛圖 by the as-of date, he/she is counted in this row.

Aid Applicants who have Applied but are not Admitted:
If the new financial aid applicant has submitted an academic admission application to 17勛圖 but has not been admitted as of the date in the column heading, he/she is counted here.

Aid Applicants who are Admitted but not Registered:
New financial aid applicants who have been admitted but have not registered for academic class(es) as of the date in the column heading.

Aid Applicants who are Registered for the Aid Year:
New financial aid applicants who have been admitted and have registered for academic class(es) by the as-of date.

Prior Students:
Financial aid applicants who have registered for academic class(es) at 17勛圖 in prior year(s).

Aid Applicants who were Registered for Prior Yrs but not Aid Yr:
If the financial aid applicant has registered for academic class(es) at 17勛圖 in the past, but has not yet registered for academic class(es) for this year, he/she is counted here.

Aid Applicants who are Registered for the Aid Year:
Financial aid applicants who have registered for academic class(es) at 17勛圖 for prior years and are also registered for academic class(es) for this year.

Serious Applicants:
Financial aid applicants can send their application to multiple colleges. The main requirement for academic admission into 17勛圖 is the submission of high school and prior college transcripts, when applicable.  If a financial aid applicant has not been admitted to 17勛圖 yet, he/she probably either has not applied for admission or has applied but has not turned in transcripts. Therefore, he/she is not considered a "serious" applicant at this point.

Averages:

This table displays cost of education, family contribution, and need information for financial aid applicants so we can see how costs and income have changed for applicants as well as how well financial need is being addressed.

Note: The Budget, Gross Need, and Unmet Need figures are only displayed when this page has been run for the current date for all 3 years (i.e. the "Year-to-Date Comparison" page).  Due to the lack of accessible historical data for these fields, those figures are not provided when comparing this year to a like-date in the past for the prior years.

Average Budget (Cost of Education):
The Budget or Cost of Education consists of the following components: Books, Supplies, Tuition, Fees, Personal Expenses, Room and Board, and Transportation.

Applicants who have not been admitted into an academic degree-seeking program or who have not submitted all of the required documentation are not assigned a budget. Only financial aid applicants who have been assigned a budget are included in the Average Budget calculation.

Average Estimated Family Contribution:
The "EFC" is the amount the federal government has determined the student and his/her parents (if dependent) can contribute to the student's cost of education based on the income and asset information provided on the student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).   Unusually high EFCs are excluded from this calculation so they do not skew the results.  .

Average Gross Financial Need:
Gross Financial Need is calculated as: Budget - EFC.  Only applicants who have been assigned a budget are included in this calculation.

Average Unmet Need:
Unmet Need is calculated as: Gross Financial Need - Exemptions (tuition waivers) - Third Party Contracts (employer paid tuition) - Financial Aid Awards (grants, scholarships, loans, work-study).

High EFCs Excluded from Average:
EFCs that are more than 2 times the average student Budget are considered unusually high. Those EFCs are excluded from the Average EFC calculation so they do not skew the results. The number of those EFCs that are excluded are counted here so the number can be compared to prior years.

Comparison to Total Population:

This table provides the total number of applicants admitted to 17勛圖 on the as-of date as well as the total number of unduplicated students for the academic year on that date. It then provides the percentage of admits and students who applied for aid to show how the need for aid is changing.

Total # of Admits for Year:
The total number of unduplicated applicants admitted academically to 17勛圖 for the academic year on the as-of date.

% of Admits who Applied for Aid:
The percent of admitted applicants who also applied for financial aid for the academic year by the as-of date.

Total # of Unduplicated Students for the Year:
The total number of unduplicated students registered for academic class(es) for the academic year.

% of Students who Applied for Aid:
The percent of academic students who also applied for financial aid for the academic year by the as-of date.
